Q: Where do we meet for the class?
A: The Address of the class is: 3025 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Fairfax, CA 94930. From San Francisco it is about 30 minutes to Camp Arequipa:
-Take 101 North across the Golden Gate Bridge all the way to San Rafael
-Take the Central San Rafael Exit
-Turn left on 3rd St
-3rd Street becomes 2nd street, which veers right on to 4th St.
-4th Street becomes Red Hill Ave
-Slight Right on to Sir Francis Drake Blvd
-Camp Arequipa is approximately 1 mile past the town of Fairfax on the left. Look for a small wooden sign (That says Arequipa) and stone pillars marking the driveway entrance. If you see Camp Bothin, you’ve got about 1/2 a mile too far.
Q: What time should I arrive for my class?
A: Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of class. Please carpool if possible – parking is free but limited.
Q: Looks like it might rain, is my class still on?
A: All Adventure Out survival classes are RAIN OR SHINE! …it is after all, a survival class. We do have rain coverage we use at the camp so you wont be standing in the rain the whole time. Dress appropriately and you will have a great time. If you are adverse to the idea of taking a class in inclimate weather, please only register for summer dates. We do have to pay for each person’s space at the camp in advance of the class, so we are not able to offer refunds or reschedules if you choose not to attend due to weather (or any other reason).
Q: Do I need to remit payment at the class site?
A: No, if you’ve registered online, your credit card has been charged and you are paid. GRATUITIES: Our instructors work very hard and do accept gratuities. Typical gratuity rates are 10-20% of your class fee.
Q: I don’t have a car, Is there public transportation available?
A: There is no public transportation to class site, if you do not have a vehicle and cannot carpool, please consider taking our class in the Santa Cruz Mountains instead which has public bus service. Or, get a ride from Lyft! Adventure Out has partnered with Lyft to get new users a ride credit towards your first ride (credit amount varies with Lyft monthly promotions and can range from $5-$25). Q: What should I bring with me?
A: Be prepared to spend a day in the woods. The class location is only a 2-3 minute walk from the parking lot, however you will not be able to return to your car for the duration of the class. You should have appropriate clothing, sun protection, snacks, water, and a day backpack.
