Learn the ancient art of stone tools! Humans have been creating stone tools for over 10,000 years, from arrowheads, to spear points, hide scrapers, axes, and everything in between. Understanding stone technology is an integral part of surviving in the wilderness. This course will cover several methods needed to make stone tools including rough survival blades, spalling, percussion, and pressure flaking for creating refined tools.
*1-Day Workshop: $169
This class is offered on our private property in the Santa Cruz mountains and will run 10am-3pm. The price has been discounted down from $195 to $169 to make it more accessible to interested parties, but for this reason food is not provided.
Taught by Adventure Out owner Cliff Hodges or lead instructor Jack Harrison, with occasional visits from guest instructors, this class will explore each step of creating stone tools so that you go home with the skill of flintknapping solidly under your belt. All needed tools and materials will be provided in your class fee.

Clinics are held on our private teaching property in the Santa Cruz Mountains – approximately a 15 minute drive from downtown Santa Cruz. Exact directions, maps, recommended packing lists, and other details will all be provided upon registration.

1 day of instruction (5 hours). All materials, stone, and tools are included.

We provide all the equipment for your flintknapping workshop! Just come prepared with clothing to spend a day in the outdoors, lunch, snacks, & water, and a notebook & pen to takes notes.
